چکیده
Abstract Accurate reconstruction of the Late Cretaceous paleogeography and tectonic evolution western North American Cordilleran margin is required to resolve long-standing debate over proposed large-scale, orogen-parallel terrane translation. The Nanaimo Basin (British Columbia, Canada) contains a high-fidelity record orogenic exhumation basin subsidence in southwestern Canadian Cordillera that constrains region. Integration detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology, conglomerate clast muscovite 40Ar/39Ar thermochronology, Lu-Hf isotopic analysis defines multidisciplinary provenance signature provides definitive linkage with sediment source regions north Sierra Nevada arc system (western United States). Analysis spatial temporal variations within Group strata documents bimodal supply local derived from adjacent magmatic southern Coast Mountains batholith an extra-regional Mesoproterozoic Belt Supergroup Atlanta lobe Idaho batholith. Particularly robust linkages include: (1) juvenile (εHf >+10) batholith; (2) Proterozoic consistent derivation (1700–1720 Ma) ca. 1380 Ma plutonic rocks intruding Lemhi subbasin central (northwestern States); (3) quartzite clasts are statistical matches for Cambrian Montana States) British Columbia; (4) syndepositional evolved >−10) These constraints support restoration Basin, batholith, Wrangellia position outboard time, minimal- fault- offset models (<~1000 km).

Late Holocene environmental change at treeline in the northern Coast Mountains, British Columbia, Canada
An integrated stratigraphic, paleoecological, and geochronological study of lake and fen sediments just beyond the terminus of Berendon Glacier provides insights into late Holocene climate, vegetation, and glacier change in the northern Coast Mountains of British Columbia. Cores collected from two small lakes in the foreland of Berendon Glacier and pits dug in a nearby fen record Little Ice Age...
متن کاملCryptococcus gattii Dispersal Mechanisms, British Columbia, Canada
Recent Cryptococcus gattii infections in humans and animals without travel history to Vancouver Island, as well as environmental isolations of the organism in other areas of the Pacific Northwest, led to an investigation of potential dispersal mechanisms. Longitudinal analysis of C. gattii presence in trees and soil showed patterns of permanent, intermittent, and transient colonization, reflect...
متن کاملLate Cretaceous Volcanoplutonic Arcs in Northwestern British Columbia: Implications for Porphyry and Epithermal Deposits
Porphyry Cu and epithermal deposits are spatially and temporally related to specific volcanic and plutonic rocks emplaced during the formation of long-lived magmatic arcs formed along convergent plate boundaries (e.g., Sillitoe, 1972; Sutherland Brown, 1976; Titley, 1982; Sawkins, 1990; Bissig et al., 2003). Recognizing the presence, types of deposits, and age of the mineralized volcanoplutonic...
متن کاملKinship care in northern British Columbia.
An exploratory case study design using three sources of data-interviews with kinship caregivers, interviews with social workers, and file reviews-was used to identify the needs of kinship caregivers in northern British Columbia. The research found that kinship caregivers identified many needs that must be addressed if kinship caregiving is to be a viable and sustainable option for children in n...
